WebTorrent

WebTorrent is a free and open source audio / video streaming client for your browser.

The difference between normal torrent clients like Transmission, qBitTorrent, Deluge, etc., and WebTorrent is that, the WebTorrent can Play (or) Stream the audio and video torrent files as it downloads. You need not wait for the download to complete to hear the music or view the video.

WebTorrent eliminates the need for a standalone torrent client instead you can use your web browser to watch, download and seed back audio and video torrents.

Nevertheless, WebTorrent also has a Desktop client for GNU/Linux, Windows and MacOS. In this section, I will show you how to make use of WebTorrent desktop client to share & stream audio and video files to your peers in the network using opentracker which already runs on our router.

Tools Needed:

  1. WebTorrent desktop client.
  2. A normal torrent client (Transmission/qBitTorrent/Deluge).
  3. Opentracker Address.

Procedure

  1. Tell your friend, who is connected to the same network to download WebTorrent Desktop Client for his computer.
  2. Open your normal torrent client
